ABOUT YOU | Clients with Injuries

Work Rehab is preferred provider of rehabilitation services for the Department of Veterans Affairs.  We have been working closely with this group for the past 8 years and have a good understanding of their needs and have developed sound strategies to assist ex-ADF personnel return to life and work.  Listed below are just some of the initiatives that Work Rehab can offer to our returned servicemen and women.

95% success on RTW same employer referrals 2016

A Work Rehab consultant will work with you to identify separate medical, vocational and social needs. You will also identify what your ongoing needs and goals might be. Work Rehab will work together with you and with DVA to ensure you are given the appropriate services and benefits for your service-related condition. A plan is developed with you to meet your individual needs and short and long term goals are set. Plans are flexible and will be adjusted along the ways to ensure you meet positive outcomes, while maintaining your independence. Once your goals are achieved, your plan will close enabling you to continue on your path to a fulfilling civilian life.

Advocacy and VVCS

Work Rehab can assist you to find local RSL advocates if needs be. Once you are referred to us for rehabilitation, if you feel that you would benefit from someone with a service history to assist you with claim lodgement and other service related matters, we can provide you with a list of local advocates to do this with you. If one of your identified areas of need is psychological assistance, we can also assist you to link in with the Veteran’s and Veteran’s Families Counselling Service.

RPL Conversion

Upon referral to Work Rehab we will send your ADO service record to our internal RPL processing team who will assess if you are able to have previous training and qualifications transferred immediately into civilian qualifications. This is paid for by the DVA and can be a very empowering motivational tool to finding employment in civilian life

Psychosocial Plans

Often when you are medically discharged from service, you may not be ready to return to work immediately. This is ok, we can work with you to address barriers in your life and overcome them. Until you are medically certified to continue with work, we can work on other goals with you that may be more focussed toward physical, mental and social rehabilitation

Work Trials

A work trial is a stint of work experience provided to someone leaving the military and hoping to secure employment in a different vocational field to what they were previously employed in.  This is a very valuable tool used to build confidence, try new skills in a safe environment and to maintain socialisation and general interaction.  Work Rehab is always looking for employers who are willing to provide work trial opportunities to our ex-serving officers. If you are an employer and looking for an extra pair of hands where you can train someone up for free and who also comes with the well-disciplined training of the military, then please call Amanda Higgins today on 1300 856 440. Alternatively email us at info@workrehab.com.au/.  There are also incentive schemes for employers who can provide secure and sustainable long term employment to ex-serving personnel.
